3 C's That Sabotage Relationships:
3. Lack Of Courage

It seems like each day we are getting more inundated with technology as well as society/culture is luring us into doing more and more. Doing and following the things of the world can be incredibly intoxicating as well as can be incredibly overwhelming and hard to slow down and make healthy, wise choices.
Before we know it we are living a life doing so many things and they might even be really good, or look really good from the outside. They might even feel good to us but as we are going to read here in a moment are they what is needed and best?
Luke 10:38-42
38 Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” 41 But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, 42 but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”
I love this story so much, there is courage everywhere! Martha is showing courage by calling her sister out to Jesus because she isn’t doing what Martha thinks she should be doing. I call this courage because she is saying it out loud, how many of us would just hold that resentment in which would create even more bitterness (hardness of heart)? Jesus is showing courage by lovingly helping Martha see what she is not able to, because she is blinded by the customs/culture of the day and even her own pride. Mary is showing courage because she is going against the grain and not just doing what is “expected’ by customs/culture standards.
As you read through this and spend time around it, are there things you're noticing? How is the Holy Spirit trying to get your attention? Will you choose the courage of Mary and sit with Jesus and ask him? Will you listen to him? The more we follow Gods words and act upon the promptings of the Holy Spirit the more we will truly see what is needed and best to be obedient and serve the one true God!
I encourage you to put this song on, listen to the words, allow them to cascade over you! Listen for a couple minutes or for the whole set, its totally up to you!
