P.R.A.Y.- Pause, Rejoice, Ask, Yield.

Ask- We can be quick to jump to our wish list. But I want to encourage you with a different perspective first. Spending time in the asking is more about it being relational, vulnerable, and intentional. Sitting with God and his presence there is a relational reality in your sharing. It’s more than just give me, give me, give me. It can also be vulnerable, what do you want to engage with God around, and it is intentional. You are asking God directly what you desire.

Let’s go back to Luke 11. Remember when Jesus was asked by the disciple, “Lord, teach us to pray”, Jesus then goes onto to share what we call the “Lord’s prayer”. Notice how Jesus shares in the asking.

Luke 11:3-4, 9-13- 3 Give us each day our daily bread. 4 Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.’” 9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. 11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

In the asking, you are looking to ask God for yourself, for others, and for his kingdom.
