3 C's That Sabotage Relationships:

3. Lack Of Courage

Tuesday, December 2nd

Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him—but some of them doubted!18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:16-20

This is the Great Commission, this is what Jesus shared with his closest friends after his death on the cross and ascension into Heaven.  This is what we are commissioned to do as well!  Talk about courage, just as Jesus did and his disciples/followers did. He is challenging us to place the mission of the gospel over ourselves, over our comforts, over our well being.  This is a call for everyone who calls themselves a “believer”.

We see in verse 17 that some doubted, even some of his closest friends were struggling to follow, understandably, right?!?!  But, what I understand here is that our transformation isn’t always immediate, I mean they walked side by side with Jesus and still struggled to follow in his ways.  This doesn’t give us a pass, this should help us recognize the difficulties we will have not following the ways of the world but instead choosing to obey and follow the Great Commission.

When we choose Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior we are saying we have faith that his death on the cross and his ascension into Heaven paid the price for us.  This is a super natural power that saved us!!! Hallelujah!

His love paid the price for us but it doesn’t shield us from discomfort, in fact Gods word tells us we will indeed have problems within the world.  In fact, in the bible we see Jesus and the disciples have lots of trouble.  Then we shouldn't be surprised when we live a life proclaiming Jesus is king that we will have problems or discomfort.

As we chose walking out the great commission in faith our lives will be transformed by the incredible power of the gospel!  This absolutely requires you to get comfortable being uncomfortable so that others may experience the love of Jesus Christ!

I want to encourage you to be in prayer over yourself asking, seeking the Holy Spirit to fill you with a boldness to share and live out the great commission!
