Samaritans Hand

Thursday, February 19th

The thing about being addicted to something is we get stuck in a crazy cycle of spiraling of choosing our choice of numbing substance, it can be work, can be social media, shopping, pornography, relationships, reading, drugs, alcohol, exercise, our addictions can literally be anything. The enemy is conning in how he gets our attention, it's up to us if we take the bait or not.

The next part of the cycle is when we notice what we've done then we go to shame and shame ourselves for any mistakes we've previously done or the divide we've created from God. Through shame many times we run and avoid spending time with friends who will love us enough to share truth with us, we run from God out of embarrassment.

In the book of Isaiah, the profit calls us to:

““Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43‬:‭18-19

You see, in our sin, in our addiction we are wondering aimlessly in the wilderness, we are wasting away. Because of Jesus Christ we no longer have to hold our selves in the wandering and wasting away we get to spring up, Christ is doing a new thing in you! He has forgiven you!!!!

So my encouragement today is to focus on his word, on his love for you! Ask him to show you what areas do you need to give over to him, what areas in your heart/life are you choosing over your relationship with Christ?  When they arise, repent of them! Give them over to God and then turn and  Keep your mind, eyes, heart and soul focused on Christ and His ways!

He is doing something new in YOU!!
