Genesis - Chaos, Order, Spoken Word

Genesis - Chaos, order, spoken word

Thursday, April 23rd

We mentioned on Tuesday about how Jesus’ name may not be on the pages of Genesis, but because God is revealed in Genesis, we can affirm that Jesus was as well. Take a moment and read John 1:1-5, 9- In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it… 9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.

I love the power of this passage that combines our creation story. It mimics Genesis 1:1- In the beginning was the Word, which is a direct name to Jesus. Not only does the Word represent Jesus, represents authority, what is spoken has power, to separate and gather. Jesus speaks into the darkness and light comes because he is the true light.

Friends, what part of your life is dark? Jesus is wanting to shine his creative light in your darkness.

Jesus also speaks and has authority. Where does Jesus need to speak into your life? Or maybe more importantly, where does he NOT have authority in your life and you are living as a little “g” god in your life.

Jesus creates with a word, with authority brings order in the chaos, light in the darkness. Jesus also reveals God’s goodness in His Kingdom. You can jot down Matthew 7:10-12 and John 14:27, where we see Jesus gives us good gifts and peace. I want you to look at John 10:10- The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

We see, that through the fall we have an adversary that wants to come against all the goodness of the Father. But Jesus reinforces to us why he came, to give us life and a full life. A good life that is overflowing with His goodness. Where in your life do you need to seek God’s goodness? Where have you settled for a counterfeit goodness that the adversary has deceived to think you can be satisfied outside of the creative order?
, everything God created is good, goodness is God’s character. That doesn’t mean your life is good right now, it just means your circumstances may not be good, but God is still good. Take a moment and allow this song to minister to you. God You're so Good
