Faith Essentials: Serving

Serving

Thursday, March 19th

Read 1 Peter 4:10- 10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

See that, each of you? Not just those who are paid to serve. Not just those whose gifts are more visible or dynamic. Each of you, whatever your gift is, which was given to you from God, use that power, ability to serve others.

Let me put it all together for you in this way. The power of serving others is humility in posture and obedience in action. That is a faith essential. The power of serving others is humility in posture and obedience in action. So what does that look like?

Take the pause practice and incorporate that into your growth of serving. “God, where and who do you want me to serve today? Where and who do you want me, in humble posture to be obedient to you and use the power/ability you have given me to serve someone else today?”

Ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you — inviting you to discern who He may be drawing your attention to, and how you might serve them in that space. Sit quietly for a few minutes before God with an open heart and a listening posture. Write down anything that comes to mind — whether a person, a need, a specific way to serve, or even just a nudge to be more present somewhere.
