Swimming Upstream

Greetings New Lifer-s! Pastor Bill here.

This week I encourage you to work through Romans Chapter 12 with me. I have a suggested reading portion for each day and a verse I have chosen for you to focus on.
I love nature. (the fact that almost EVERY message I do has a nature illustration might hint at that!)

The amazing migration of salmon up the rivers, against the current and against all odds to achieve their God ordained goal is, to me, a wonderful illustration of an authentic Christian spiritual journey. The Bible refers to “walking the narrow road”, “running your race”, “fighting the good fight” and many other illustrations, but let me add the salmon spawning migration to those!

Romans 12:19-21
We will not be stopped!

“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Romans 12:21

“I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.”
Philippians 3:12

For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.”
II Timothy 4:6-8
