Living Generously-reflecting Christ in my world

Monday, October 26th

Day one of this week’s Faith Challenge. I’m wondering What’s the Faith Challenge suppose to be? Where’s the challenge? What’s the challenge? Is it to read something new? To be challenged in your faith walk? An opportunity to grow? Yes, probably some of all of that. But this week my challenge is for you to be with God, hear from God and respond to God. I don’t know what that will look like for you, but it’s your faith challenge. I hope you take up the challenge.

If one of the core desires of a Christ follower is spiritual maturity then what does that look like? How will I know if I’m maturing?

Consider this perspective “Spiritual maturity is reflecting Christ and His character in my world.”

As you grow in your relationship with Christ the goal is to reflect more and more of Christ and His character in your life, in your world. It’s what God promised to do. “For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son.” Romans 8:29
God promises to conform us to His Son. Spiritual maturity reflects increasing conformity to Christ; reflecting more of Christ in my life, my world.

In the past six months how have you seen your life conformed to the image of Jesus? Sit with that for a few minutes. Ask God’s Spirit where He’s been at work? Jot it down.
Pause for a minute and consider this-

God is a generous God. The Father gave us His Son, “for God so loved…”
The Son gave His life, the Spirit gives faith and spiritual gifts.

Generosity is at the core of who God is and you’re called to reflect Him by living generously.

This week I want you to consider reflecting the generosity of God.

When you hear the word generosity or living generously; what comes to mind? How do you feel?

Tell God what this is like for you.

You have two basic choices to make; two ways to live your life- with either open hands or closed fists. Holding all that I am and all that I have with either open hands or closed fists.
What do your hands look like? Is that what you want?

At the heart of that choice is trust, that’s why this is so crucial to your growth. Living generously is an act of trust and as you trust you grow.

Talk with God regarding your willingness to live generously.
