Living Generously-reflecting Christ in my world

Tuesday, October 27th

Day two of this week’s Faith Challenge.

A reminder- What’s the Faith Challenge suppose to be? Where’s the challenge? What’s the challenge? Is it to read something new? To be challenged in your faith walk? An opportunity to grow? Yes, probably some of all of that. But this week my challenge is for you to be with God, hear from God and respond to God. I don’t know what that will look like for you, but it’s your faith challenge. I hope you take up the challenge.

This week we’re considering reflecting the generosity of God in our world, as a way of life.
Living generously is a trust issue. Not a resource issue.

In the Old Testament God says His people are blessed to be a blessing; blessing others is a reflection of our family heritage, of who my God is.

I’m not here for me. You’re not here for you. We’re blessed to be a blessing; to reflect Him
Caution, don’t limit living generously to time, talent and treasure.

It’s all of life, all that I am and all that I have. I trust Him for all of it.

Living generously, is not simply financial but with all of life, with all I have, with all God has given me. My gifts, talents, resources, relationships, opportunities, experiences, my personality; all He has poured into me and my life.

I want you to know the joy of living generously and reflecting the One who has given you everything.

Today we’re going to consider some Biblical principles of living generously

Here are a few basics-

1. God is generous (John 3:16)
It’s the nature of God to be generous, to give.
Tell God where you have experienced His generosity recently.
Praise and thank Him for His generosity in your life.
Tonight, before you go to bed jot down 10 things your grateful for.
Gratitude is my response to His generosity
2. Generosity matters to God- it’s reflected in all 66 books of the Bible. It’s not a sometime deal for God.
3. The early church was marked by generosity- Acts 2:45, 4:36-37 read these verses, what do you see? Feel?
4. Living generously reflects Jesus- read Philippians 2:6-8 and
2 Corinthians 8:9

Sit with these verses for a few minutes, then tell Jesus what they mean to you, how you feel.
