Living Generously-reflecting Christ in my world

Wednesday, October 28th

What’s the Faith Challenge suppose to be? This week my challenge is for you to be with God, hear from God and respond to God. I don’t know what that will look like for you, but it’s your faith challenge. I hope you take up the challenge.

This week we’re considering reflecting the generosity of God in our world, as a way of life.

The Ownership principle

This first principle is probably the most foreign to our culture, to the American view of life. It’s seen early in life, it’s seen when the toddler grabs the toy and says “Mine”.

We grow up believing it’s “mine”.

That what we have is ours-“I earned it, I worked hard for that”.

Yet spiritual maturity recognizes that God is the true owner of everything we have.

“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” (Psalm 24:1)

Really- everything? Everyone? Yup, that’s what it says.

What’s your gut reaction when you read that?

Jot down some words that come to mind when you consider-
 - God owns everything
 - His provisions are His not mine

What changes when you realize it’s not yours, that it belongs to God?

How does your heart respond to this?

“All that I am and all that I have comes from God.”

These are not your gifts, your talents, your resources, your relationships, your opportunities, your experiences, your personality.

All you have comes from the hand of God; He owns it, they are His not mine.
Tell God how you feel about this.
