Flood - The Path From Ruin to Renewal Pt. 2

Friday, November 6th

Faith isn’t superstitious, if I do, then I will get God’s attention or approval or influence him for my sake. Faith is done versus do. Faith is trusting in what God has done, stepping into the ruin of life to bring renewal. Stepping into chaos to reestablish his presence here on earth, in you and through you.

Because notice that last part of the “movie” or the story.

1 Corinthians 3:16- 16 Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?

Paul asks it as a question. Is it rhetorical? Is it literal? How would you answer it?

Then notice what he says to the church in Ephesus.

21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit. Ephesians 2:21-22

Through Christ’s atoning sacrifice and gift of the Holy Spirit, God’s personal presence is within you. That we are to be a dwelling place for God’s presence, a tabernacle of his presence, his justice and mercy.

For some today, you need to stop living a superstitious faith. Getting God’s attention, acceptance or trying to influence him isn’t about what we do, it’s what has been done. We don’t sacrifice to earn God’s favor, we sacrifice because that’s what our Heavenly Father has done and we, as his children, want to emulate our father. Or another way to put it, we don’t sacrifice for our King to earn his favor, we sacrifice for the King because he has sacrificed and he calls us to do the same because it is His kingdom ways.

Today, where do you need to surrender- your ways to His? It’s not about belief, the demons believe, it’s about surrender.

Where do you need to allow God’s presence to recreate your ruin?

Where do you need to sacrifice, not out of earning the favor of the King, but emulating the King?
